Password Protected Directories
What are password-protected directories? What do they indicate for your Internet site?
If you want to keep some content hidden from the public eye, you can enable password protection for a specific folder - either the primary site folder or another one below it. Whenever this function is active, a pop-up shall appear each time a person attempts to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link which goes a few levels deeper, so login information shall be necessary for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg when you have secured the domain.com folder. In case the credentials are not valid, a “403 Forbidden” message will appear and there isn't any way to get around this restriction, so you can be positive that no one shall be able access the protected content. The option may be beneficial in numerous situations - if only some people should be able to see specific files, if you are building a site and you don't want people to see it prior to it being completed, etc.
Password Protected Directories in Cloud Hosting
All our Linux cloud packages include an incredibly useful tool which will allow you to protect any folder inside your account from unauthorized access with simply 2 mouse clicks. Once you log in to your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, you will just have to visit the Password Protection section, to choose the main domain or subdomain, to specify the folder which should be secured - the root folder or some folder under it, and then to type in the username and the password that should be used to access the content in question. The function shall be turned on instantly, so in case you attempt to open the folder/website, you shall be prompted to input the login info. You may create or remove a number of usernames for the same folder, if necessary. If you check out the File Manager section, all password-protected folders shall be shown with a tiny padlock icon.
