SSH Telnet
Discover more about the Telnet protocol and its use.
SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol used to connect to a server and carry out various tasks through a command line. The protocol is preferred by many knowledgeable users, since the data transmitted over it is encrypted, so it cannot be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access could be employed for a lot of things with regards to the type of hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is one of the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the web server permits it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH could be used for virtually anything - you can install software or restart particular services such as the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is used mainly with UNIX-like Systems, but there are clients which enable you to use the protocol if your computer is using a different OS as well. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote server always listens for incoming connections on that port although lots of service providers change it for security reasons.
SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
When you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you want to deal with your content remotely using SSH, you can receive SSH access to the account through your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package does not come with this feature as standard, you could add it with a few mouse clicks through the Upgrades menu. Within the SSH section of the Control Panel, you shall see the host, the port number and the username you should use when you connect to the account. You may also select what password you would like to use, as it does not have to be the same as the one for your account. We have prepared many Help articles in which you can find all the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting plan, plus examples of how they're used. In addition, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you shall be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection via a standard client like FileZilla, for example.
